![]() If you look close you can see how I traced the templates to mark the foam. The groove is already cut for the 4mm carbon fiber tubes but the tubes arn't glued in place yet, These tubes are used to strengthen the wings and fuselage. |
![]() Here I've cut out the sections. |
![]() This is how the grooves were cut to accept the 4mm tubes. In the background you can see some of the foam that was used for this project. The foam was purchased at Lowes in a bundle of about 30 pieces for about $30.00. It is called Dow Bluecore and is 1/4" thick. |
![]() The tube for the wing is being glued into place. Wax paper was put on first, then a ruler for even pressure then the weights were put on top. We used 30 Minute Epoxy to glue the tubes in place. |
![]() This is how the plane was fixtured to keep everything square while the glue was drying. |
![]() Packageing tape was used as hinge material along the entire length of the wing. That was a little too much. The aileron was a little too hard to move. I ended up making slits in the tape to reduce the resistance and make it easier for the servo's to move the control surfaces. I think the thickness of the tape has a lot to do with it. You might not have this problem. |
